Collection of sketches

Here are a few of the sketches I have done over the past couple of months...  It is part of a scavenger hunt that I participate in...  It helps me better understand how to sketch. These sketches are typically 15 minutes long..  Also included a couple paintings in oil I have recently done which are not part of the Scavenger Hunt...

Lunch

Trash Barrel down at the Ballard docks

Went to the Ballard street dock yards...  fascinating place...  There are lots of fishing boats and equipment hanging around... The day I went all the boats were out sooooo I sketched this barrel.... wasn't coming home empty handed!

Fisherman

This is a ceramic bust of a fisherman that was made by Mal...  It is on the mantle at the cape house....

South Yarmouth Smuggler's Beach

This is watercolor and is the marsh across the street from smuggler's beach in South Yarmouth Ma....

Tree Sketch

I went to Breakheart Reservation and sat and sketched with my pencil..  I wanted to get an understanding of value in creating planes so I used a rock that was in front of the tree.. Breakheart is a park in Saugus where I enjoy walking with Mal... There are many areas that would be great sketching sites....  Jon and I used to run some of the charity races through the park....  The hills were oh so tough....

My First Blog

Well, this is my first attempt at establishing a blog for my art and pictures..  I am new to art and am self taught... I plan to post my sketches here so that I can keep track of my progress..
